Green River Airport Runway Reconstruction

On The Road Pub 5 2023 Issue 1

The pavement on Runway 13/31 demonstrated asphalt section failure. The existing asphalt pavement has exceeded the design life and showed signs of significant degradation. This reconstruction project utilized a 2022 FAA grant.

The project was designed in three separate construction schedules to maximize the available funding.

The runway replacement work included pulverization, earthwork, paving, erosion control, and seeding. The replacement runway is located in the same location as the existing footprint. Runway 13/31 will continue to be 75 feet wide and approximately 5,600 feet long.

Per AC 150/5300‐13A, the runway will be designed using the Runway Design Group (RDG) of B‐II. The Runway Safety Area (RSA) will be 150 feet wide and extend 300 feet from both ends of the runway. The Runway Object Free Zone (ROFZ) will be 500 feet wide and extend 300 feet beyond the ends of the runway. The pavement strength will be 12,500 pounds SWG for all new pavements constructed.
