BradenWatson What are your career plans within the construction industry? I already have the job I want. I am a project managerwithCMTEngineeringandIamjust planning on extendingmy role. I amgoing back to school to finish a civil engineering degree I startedawhile ago. I qualify tobe a project manager now, but once I complete that degree, I will also be qualified to work more on the engineering side. What are you planning on doing to make a difference? I am an active member of UAPA. This past yearIwasthetechnicalcommitteechairman. I amworking with UAPA and my employer to help solve industry problems and meet industrygoals.Whateverourgroupcancon- tribute tomeet our goals canonlymake the industry better. What’s the best piece of advice that you have received that you plan to follow professionally? Do your best work. Construction is an integrity-based industry.Integrityistheone thing you have, and you need to keep it at the forefront with all your decisionmaking. Tanner Spencer What are your career plans within the construction industry? Currently, I am a junior with one more year of school. After I graduate, I hope to work at Morgan Asphalt as an estimator. I work for Morgan Asphalt right now as a pipe layer and operator. What are you planning on doing to make a difference? I want to make Morgan Asphalt as efficient as possible as a company and also to better the asphalt industry in Utah. What’s the best piece of advice that you have received that you plan to follow professionally? Hard work pays off in the end. Put in the time to learn the construction and everything else falls into place. Colton Davis What are your career plans within the con- struction industry? I wou l d l i ke to f i nd an engineering career in the asphalt industry, maybe in equipment, to help make the industry more efficient. What are you plan- ning on doing to make a difference? I’ve been on a lot of job sites where people haveusedmanydifferent kinds of equipment. Some equipment just works better than others, and the better the equipment, the better the work. What’s the best piece of advice that you have received that you plan to follow professionally? Always work harder than your competitors. Dalton David What are your career plans within the construction industry? I am currently working at Staker Parson Materials & Construction as a long-term intern. I am moving toward a full-time position doing the same work I amdoing nowas an estimator and project manager. My responsibilities include helping other estimators and project managers with projects that are being built right now. What are you planning on doing to make a difference? I intend to continue working with other contractors, municipalities and UDOT and to build relationships so that we can all spread knowledge about the asphalt industry. What’s the best piece of advice that you have received that you plan to follow professionally? In this industry, people usually work with who they know and trust. Building rela- tionships and being that trustworthy person for others is how we can make a difference. 3
