BARRICADE SERVICES OUR 100 TH MEMBER W henyouwalk into theheadquarters for BarricadeServices, the first thing you see is a wall with employee pictures of office staff and traffic control technicians under a title that reads,“Welcome to Barricade Services: Est. 2003.” It is imme- diately clear that this is the kind of company where employees get a little recognition every time someone walks through the door. Gary Shields founded Barricade Services in 2003 with the active support of his wife Nicole, but his experience in traffic control dates back to 1997. The company specializes in traffic control services, but it also rents equipment. Today, the company employs 12 fulltime traffic control technicians who have more than 35 years of combined experience in the traffic control industry and who add to their training on a continual basis. Gary is UDOT certified, and the traffic control technicians are UDOT and ATTSA certified. The company has also been approved by NCHRP. Customers include, but are not limited to, the following types of events and organizations: • Asphalt paving • Construction • Entertainment companies • Environmental • Festivals • Marathons • Municipalities • Pipeline • Special events • Utilities 28
