JOIN TODAY. www.utahasphalt.org I have been a UAPA member since 2012 when our local chapter was started. At the time, the asphalt industry inUtahneededa set of standardspecifications for the stateand localmunicipalities.Theprimary goal at the timewas to standardize and limit the amount of specifications being used.Thiswould close any loopholes and provide higher quality pavements to the customers. After some of these changes being made, we discovered we needed to present our findings to owners. UAPA became the platform for industry “lunch and learns,”which have become very popular and great platforms to educate owners on what is happening in our industry. These range from short presentations, to boots on the ground watching the work being performed. The Utah Asphalt Pavement Association has grown from its original eight members to over 100 members. We now consist of producers, suppliers, paving and maintenance contractors, consultants, cities, and DOT. With this growth we now have the industries’ best of each section representing us on committees and helping guide the industry improvements. It has been exciting to watch as this association has grown and continues to grow in our state.
