31 DOUBLE D DISTRIBUTION MARK DROUBAY “I figured that someone would always be willing to pay me to haul something with my truck.” I n 2016, Mark Droubay, the owner of Double D Distribution bought some property towards the west side of Salt Lake City, Utah and began building - after 35 years in business - what is now the company’s first real home. The building is beautiful and certainly the culmination of Mark’s very successful career, but, if you ask Mark Droubay, what stands out most in his company’s new headquarters, he would probably tell you it’s the bathrooms. Which would also tell you a lot about Mark. He is quick to point out that the bathrooms were built with his drivers in mind: they are roomy, the shower space is exceptional and the attention to detail is impressive. You can quickly tell that Mark Droubay started his career as a driver. In 1983, after serving a service mission for his church, Mark returned home. He knew three things: he had no desire to go to college, he loved farming, and he loved trucks. Mark was raised on a dairy farm in rural Utah, so he pretty much planned on either farming or truck driving as a career. continued on the next page
