13 Introducing the UAPA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM T he Utah Asphalt Pavement Association’s Scholarship Award helps to ensure the future of the asphalt pavement industry in Utah. Its purpose is to support students residing inUtahwho are pursuing a degree froman accredited institution of higher education or technical training in Utah. Awardees are selected using standard recipient selection procedures as developed by the UAPA Scholarship Committee. Awards are typically based on demonstrated need, scholastic achievement, and a demonstrated commitment to support our shared industry. Applicants are free to apply for the one- time $1,500 award anytime. Selections are made by the Scholarship Committee each year in February just prior to the Utah Asphalt Conference. At the Utah Asphalt Conference, awardees are inviting on stage to receive their award while attendees at the conference get a chance to both recognize their achievement and application for the award.
