can make a very good living within this field. I’d like to see more young people choosing the construction industry as a profession. What inspiredyoutoserveasa leaderwithin theassociation? Again, for me, it’s about giving back to a profession that has been very good to me. I really like what I do. I have met, and continue tomeet people that inspire me and I really believe that we all have a responsibility to improve and give back to our professions. It’s how prog- ress is made. In looking ahead for this year, what are some of the things that you would like to focus on? Well three things, first, UAPA’s value prop- osition for itsmembers, workforce devel- opment and finally regional leadership. UAPA is a statewide organization, and I would like to focus on the leadership in the northern and southern areas of our state. I think when everyone has a seat at the table, so to speak, a sense of own- ership will emerge. If you lookbackat your career and life, what would be three Utah is a desirable place to live and work. Along with that growth comes the need for technology – doing things better and more efficiently and of course, we’re going to need skilled people in the workforce. That’s four, maybe even five. If you could describe the best day in this business, what would it look like? When a plan comes together and is executed well. Especially after much planning. Tell us about your family. Mywife, Jennifer and I have beenmarried for twenty-one years, and we have three children, two sons and one daughter. What is your favorite way to spend your free time? Any unusual hobbies? Skiing, baseball and U of U Football. Also enjoy traveling and exploring newplaces (when possible). And I should probably preface the exploring part, whenmywife Jennifer explores new places, I generally explore new construction sites! I am fas- cinatedby the people and themachinery of a construction site. I love the activity, and always have since I was a kid. 3 9
